Moya doesn't know how good she had it -- can you imagine the diaper changes? Never mind being spit up on, pee'd on, pooped on and up all night pacing the floor! ;)

"Mind the Baby" opened up the 2nd season of Farscape with dramatic flair, silly humor, biting action and thoughful, emotional moments. Trust and love -- the core of healthy, loving relationships, was the theme explored through the characters' interactions with one another. Perfect theme with "Mind the Baby" as its title -- is there a relationship more critical that relies on the parents' ability to provide love and trust to its child to insure survival?

That there were technical moments of drama was not missed by many fans. Pilot really looked PO'ed when Chiana and Rygel contemplated their abandonment of Moya. Bravo to the Henson peoples! And the early scene of D'Argo and John talking... camera panning through the structural support beams, shadows and distance shoots vs. close ups was great! I felt like I was eavesdropping on their conversation... an eery and edgy effect from the camera work people and director -- kudos to camera people & Andrew!

And drama there was aplenty from the story itself. Seemed to be alot of two by two relationships juxtaposed by a third person interferring or upseting the balance i.e D'Argo and John waiting. Aeryn as their savior, but they discover her deception. Crais and Aeryn in league, but Crais talking to Scorpius to betray them. John enraged by Crais and their dispute over Talyn. Rygel and Chiana talking about bailing, Pilot revealing his anger in reaction. Moya, as a mother naturally would, wants to protect her offspting. Talyn rejects her nurturing in favor of Crais. The two by two thing with a third party coming in was all over the episode. Perhaps this is a natural coincidence of the story, and the nature of relationships. Perhaps not.

Relationships to thrive must have trust, must know that one can rely on the other for support. John challenged Aeryn on the trust he believed they had, to get her to reveal what she seemed to conceal. Aeryn acknowledges their "closeness" and tells them her deal with Crais. Chiana, when talking to Rygel, while considering leaving Moya, says, "We gotta' stick!" Chiana knows that Moya stood by them as they must stand by her -- she has learned the lesson that loyalty and trust deserves it in kind. When Aeryn approached Zhann and challenged her notion of "rarified love," Aeryn spats out her anger at what she sees as Zhaan's betrayl. "I think that's selfish... I'm just an ignorant warrior who believes love means you're willing to fight and die for your fellow living beings." Aeryn summs up that this is the simple essential truth of life, of love, of relationships. Wise warrior she is.

Humerous lines and situations were scattered throughout even in the midst of great angst. When John approaches Aeryn that she is hiding something from them, he justifies the trust they have in each other by asking her how often had they been close. I ROFL when Aeryn showed clear facial expressions of intimate pleasure and embarrassment when she said "just that once." I loved it! And John expression in turn, LOL! (Yup, hello! They did the *deed!* They *did it* when you weren't paying attention to the clues! It was there way back when and it is/was no big deal! And not the focus of the story!) When John sees Crais and says, "You want to have a mid-life crisis? Fine...ditch the firm, head off to Maui, shack up with the supermodel, but you can't have the Porsche!" Who didn't love D'Argo fascination with "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game?! And Rygel's "slight case of the Intons" was pricessless! And Rygel really did appear to be choking there! I imagine that's due in credit and skill once again to the Henson peoples! How easy and real they make it look!

My favorite scene of higher drama, action and emotional agnst, occurred when Aeryn returned to Talyn with Crais. When Talyn offers "the hand of friendship to Crais" and he accepts, holy dren! Crais' triumph, Aeryn's anger and protective instincts, with their knock down drag out kickbox fest, and Talyn's guns poised to shoot Aeryn... I felt a little more than jumpy! Another fav scene of drama...when Scorpius discovers he's lost both ships he was marvelous! He says, hissing with apparent controlled rage, his tone deepening, "Crighton is alive and I will find him." He sits in his chair, slowly, stiffly, his posture screaming control, barely held in check. Ooooh, he is a "baddy" and what a great villian!

Final scene of the movie... oops, I mean episode (LOL! Can you blame me?) John and Aeryn sitting below Pilot, spooning, his arms around her. I've read some criticisms that said this was overly sappy or sentimental and perhaps out of character for Aeryn. I disagree. I found it touching and a perfect ending... two people who trust and rely on each other. With Pilot behind them, it showed their interdependence upon one another has grown in trust.

"So, Musey, nothing bad to say about 'Mind the Baby?' Please, must you always be so Pollyanna?!" Well, I'll never make a good free lance or professinal critic I guess. Something has to stand out as glaringly incompetant or insulting or even ignorant to get my hackles up! None of these things have I seen to date on Farscape. (Well, maybe that "jerimiah" ep was not the best.) It is and remains one the finest written, acted, directed, and produced scifi tv shows to date. "Musey, you are such a kiss up!" Yeah, well.. think it'l get me an autographed pic of the cast? ;) LOL... yeah, right! ;p

So, enjoy you scapers all! See you around the BB and in chat!
