Since we record the whole season in one day, there are bound to be times
when the actors trip over their tongues. We also seem to hire people with
a really great sense of humor, which makes the record session that much
more fun between takes!

Bai Ling's first language is Chinese. She has such a beautiful accent when she speaks English, but we asked a lot of her with this series since she was saying words like "Patahn Pahrr" "cockroaches" and "catacombs." For any actress that's a mouthful!
George DiCenzo is a pro! He came into the record session and blew us all away with his performace as P'rahk Nar'n. He is also really funny, and cracked us up! How many times can you say "I hate bugs" anyway?
Along with the dialogue we need to record background noise, crowd reactions, that sort of thing. Those sounds then get layered into the scene like a sound effect. The improvising crowd sounds are called "walla" in the biz, and are always the funniest stuff said all day. Here's a bunch of cockroaches in pain.
Here's another take of walla...this time we needed mumbling Patahn Pahrr guards.
Many of our actors have a TON of voices in them, and they would frequently break into a new accent after a take. Here's Jessica Calvello, our Dr. Yoshimoto, a little more urban than her usual read.
