THEODOR PISTEK
Costume Supervisor

Oscar- and Cézar-winner Theodor Pistek has designed costumes for more 100 films, in addition to several opera and theater productions. He also is an accomplished artist.

Pistek received an Academy Award for his work on Amadeus, the Oscar-winning film directed by fellow Czechoslovakia native Milos Forman. Pistek received an Oscar nomination for Valmont and created wardrobes for the Oscar-nominated The People vs. Larry Flynt. Among Pistek's film credits are Marketa Lazarova, Torrents of Spring and The Death of Tarzan.

In 1987, Pistek celebrated the success of the Fourth Bienale Scenography at New York's Lincoln Center. The British Film Academy has nominated Pistek numerous times for his visionary wardrobe design. In 1999, Pistek garnered the Medaile Award, which named him among the ten most widely acclaimed costume designers of the past decade.

Born in Prague to a father who was a well-known actor, Pistek is a well-established figure in Central Europe, not just for his work in films but for having been a race-car driving enthusiast and a friend of Czech president Vaclav Havel. Havel asked Pistek to redesign the country's military uniforms after the nation gained its independence.

Pistek holds a degree from the Prague Academy of Applied Arts. He is a member of the Order of the Prague Castle and the American Film Academy.
