Tyler has composed 30 scores over the past half-decade, and last year was lauded Best New Composer of the Year in Cinemusic Magazine. Frank Herbert's Children of Dune is Tyler's second collaboration with director Greg Yaitanes. Tyler scored Yaitanes' feature film Plan B.

Tyler's recent projects include the upcoming drama The Hunted, by Academy Award-winning director William Friedkin and starring Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro.

Among Tyler's other film-score credits are Frailty, starring Matthew McConaughey; Last Call, a film starring Jeremy Irons that chronicles the last days of F. Scott Fitzgerald; A Piece of My Heart, starring Jennifer Tilly; Don't Peek; Panic; Los Muertos; The 4th Floor, starring William Hurt; and the rock score for the post-apocalyptic feature Six-String Samurai.

Tyler also is an award-winning classical conductor, composer and orchestrator. In addition, he is signed as a songwriter with Sony Music. His modern-rock, pop, electronica and hip-hop songs have become fixtures of the Sony Music catalog. Tyler's music was featured in the 2001 summer hit film The Fast and the Furious.

Tyler began composing music at an early age and was performing his own concert pieces on tour in the United States and Russia by his mid-teens. Tyler continued playing piano, classical percussion, guitar, bass and drums in various orchestras, music ensembles, choirs and bands until 1997, when he entered the world of film scoring.

Tyler credits his grandfather, Walter Tyler, for inspiring his love of film. The elder Tyler netted an Academy Award and 10 Academy nominations for his work as an art director.

Tyler holds a B.A. in history from UCLA, and a Master's Degree in public policy from Harvard University.
