In mid-February 2003, SCIFI.COM posted a message on its Frank Herbert's Children of Dune BBoard that invited fans of the Dune saga to submit their detailed, behind-the-scenes questions for a fan-inspired interview with Greg Yaitanes, director of the new epic miniseries event. What follows is Greg's thoughtful and in-depth replies to some of the most compelling questions he received.
Be sure to join us for an online chat with Greg on Tuesday, March 4, exclusively on SCIFI.COM!

Hey.
Thank you for all your questions. If I didn't answer something then it likely fell into John Harrison's territory with regard to the adaptation, and I've asked him to reply to those in his "Ask John" column.
Most of what you are reading will seem pretty abstract until you see the finished miniseries. The TCA trailer was pretty amazing and I thought it truly captured the poetry of the show, so that'll be a good point of reference until Sunday, March 16, when you finally get to see what we have all been up to.
SCIFI.COM was a great tool for me in preparing for my work on Children of Dune, so my thanks to all the fans. Your posts helped shape Children of Dune, and I look forward to hearing all your thoughts once it airs.
I want to say that every person involved with Children of Dune put a piece of their soul into the project. There is a lot of love and passion on the screen. They worked hard to bring you six hours of fantastic entertainment.
Try not to get hung up on such details as whether the twins are too old or too young, the eyes are too blue or not blue enough, or that the book says this and we did that. You'll end up robbing yourself of a great experience. The Dune universe is so wonderful because of how human and real its characters are. To not respect that would be the worst offense any of us could make.
Thanks and enjoy.
Greg Yaitanes
director
