Q: In the original Dune the Sardaukar terror troops of the Padishah Emperor fought against the Fremen with swords, knives, etc. Does the miniseries depict this accurately from the book or will they be fighting with projectile weapons?
A: The use of weapons in the miniseries was a subject of much discussion and thought. Sardaukar do use projectile weapons in this version, but not exclusively. In fact, most of the combat in the miniseries is brutally and mercilessly hand-to-hand. I've made no attempt to sugar-coat the violence, or glamorize it, or make it heroic. It's messy, ugly and painful. "When you kill, you pay for it."
