Ian McNeice (Baron Vladimir Harkonnen)

Ian McNeice's part as Baron Harkonnen was a little less grounded than other Dune roles. The Baron of the dark house of the empire neither walks nor stands, but floats. McNeice was strapped into a suspensor unit, for the duration of his filming days.

Said McNeice after finishing shooting and being unstrapped: "I'm still a little dazed by it all because, quite frankly I've been floating around, in my suspensor units as the Baron, for the past six weeks and it's --- I can only describe it as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride here in Prague," said the actor. "It's pretty cool."

The British theater-trained acting veteran has starred in a number of feature films and television programs throughout his esteemed career.

Among his film credits are A Life Less Ordinary, The Englishmen Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain, Year of the Comet, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Russia House, Cry Freedom, The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne and Valmont.

His television credits include Around the World in 80 Days and the acclaimed series The Life and Times of Nicholas Nickleby. McNeice starred with Julie Cox (Dune's Princess Irulan) in 1999's David Copperfield and with Saskia Reeves (Dune's Lady Jessica) in NBC's A Christmas Carol.

McNeice will star in an upcoming television adaptation of the stage hit "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
