Frank Herbert's Dune nominated for three Emmy Awards

Frank Herbert's Dune, the SCI FI original miniseries that set new ratings records for the channel, has earned another prestigious accolade from the television industry: it has been nominated for three Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The ground-breaking miniseries, which was adapted for the screen and directed by John Harrison, was nominated in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or a Movie – Vittorio Storaro, Cinematographer. Also nominated in this category are Anne Frank (ABC), Conspiracy (HBO), For Love or Country: The Auturo Sandoval Story (HBO), Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (ABC), and 61* (HBO)

  • Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special. Other nominees in this category are Anne Frank (ABC), Nuremberg (TNT) and 61* (HBO).

  • Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special. This category's other nominees are Allosaurus: A Walking with Dinosaurs Special (DISC), Haven (CBS), Horatio Hornblower (A&E) and Race Against Time (TNT).
