RICH LARSON (Illustrator) lost his soul at an early age to MAD Magazine, Marvel Comics, pulps, pin-ups and paperback art. He has made two-thirds of a living drawing weird, vaguely disreputable stuff.

Larson's more-or-less conventional advertising work (goofy kids a specialty!) is counterbalanced by an array of art — for comics (Barbi Twins Adventures), paperbacks (Melvinge of the Megaverse), CDs (Overkill: Intruder), trading cards ("Wet T-Shirt Contest" from Mars Attacks II), movies (Mystery Science Theater 3000), portfolios and sketchbooks — that can best be described as "garish" and "lurid."

Much of Larson's work has been produced in collaboration with airbrush artist Steve Fastner.

Most recently, Fastner & Larson provided the cover art for a new edition of Harry Harrison's Bill the Galactic Hero, and their prop art can be seen — believe it or not — in the movie Sweet November.

Larson lives and works in Minneapolis.
