The SCI FI Channel is proud to present an exciting new program for middle-school and high-school English/language arts teachers. Explore the world that Ursula K. Le Guin created in her Earthsea series of novels with the help of exciting classroom materials designed to complement the novels, as well as work apart from them.
The SCI FI Channel strives to provide teachers with programming and materials that will engage their students and help foster a greater understanding of the endless possibilities of science fiction. In keeping with this initiative, SCI FI is pleased to provide this free curriculum supplement program inspired by the upcoming SCI FI Original miniseries Legend of Earthsea.
The program consists of an interactive online unit Earthsea: Seen in the Scene comprising three different standalone lesson plans one unit tied to teaching Ursula K. Le Guin's novels A Wizard of Earthsea and The Tombs of Atuan, and two lessons inspired by the works but not dependent on them. The lessons help address standards endorsed by the National Council of the Teachers of English (NCTE) and explore character development and other literary techniques.
All of the unit and lesson materials you will need for this exciting program are available in PDF format for quick and easy download and printing. To view these documents, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Click here for a free copy of Adobe Reader.
