Jayne Cobb (Adam Baldwin)
A mercenary, Jayne was working for a competitor of Serenity's when he got the drop on Mal and Zoë. He switched sides when Mal made him a better offer, and he has remained on Serenity since then.
Jayne's guiding star is what is best for Jayne Cobb — self-interest is his only interest. He excels at violence, which is why Mal keeps him around, despite the legitimate concern that he might betray any one (or all) of them if the price is right.
ADAM BALDWIN as Jayne Cobb
Born February 27, 1962 in Chicago, actor Adam Baldwin (who is no relation to the famous Baldwin brothers) began his accomplished film and television career in the title role of My Bodyguard. During that same year he caught the attention of director Robert Redford, who cast him in the Academy Award-winning feature film Ordinary People.
In the final season of the long-running drama series The X-Files, Baldwin had a recurring role as FBI informant/super soldier Knowle Rohrer. Baldwin is also familiar to television audiences from his roles in the Emmy Award-winning miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, the syndicated drama The Cape, and the telefilms Smokejumpers and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, in which he played the dual role.
Baldwin's additional film roles include a soldier who truly loves war in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, an abusive stepfather in Radio Flyer, cowboy Tom McLaury in Lawrence Kasdan's Wyatt Earp, Maj. Mitchell in the blockbuster Independence Day, and Capt. Wilkins in Roland Emmerich's Revolutionary War drama The Patriot.
An avid golfer, Baldwin lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their three children.
