3.08 SKYWATCHERS
Eddie ain't pulling any punches this time folks. 'Cause I'm fightin' mad and wanna give some of you a serious piece of my well-worked brain. See, Foster, the Raven Nation and I aren't doing this for ourselves. We aren't putting our own lives on the line each and every day, trying to send those low-budget "V" wannabes back to the dark corner of the universe they hail from so that YOU GUYS, our so-called "brethren," could muck it up and hand the Gua the advantage.
I know what you're thinking: Wait a minute Nambulous! Hold the phone! We're here, tipping you, watching for Gua, testing the waters and guarding the old home front! So what's with the attitude? Why the sudden rancor? We're the good guys!
And maybe that's true, for some of you. And it matters, absolutely, positively. You're helping to turn the tide in this war. Without you there wouldn't be a chance, no Raven Nation, no followers of Foster. No stand to make.
But what would you do if I told you not every human was looking out for Mother Earth? I'm not talking about those naive cattle who haven't opened their eyes yet, not talking about the ignorant masses who don't believe in life beyond our own globe. No, I'm talking about folks out there, composed of 100% pure mom-and-pop DNA who're laying the ground-work for the Gua? Not just one or two corrupt losers keeping their ruthless watch at the top of the food chain either. What if I said there was a whole town, full of simple-folk just like you and me who'd sold out?
It ain't a hypothetical, as any of you truly paranoid undoubtedly know. It's for real. It was happening in Montana, in a city called Hope.
The irony ain't about to escape any one of us.
See, the citizens of Hope were helping the Gua "harvest" orbs from meteorites they've been sending through wormholes in space. Each and every one of those silver satans that gets downloaded into one of our stolen bodies puts us one step closer to those next two waves of hell. And one-step closer to a shut out in the game that could be humanities final battle.
So what motivates someone to make a deal with the devil? There are a million answers and they all lead to an easy way out. The people of Hope probably knew the invasion would mean the destruction of everything they know, probably felt like they were protecting their lives, their families, that they didn't have a choice.
But they did. We all do. Nothing's easy about fighting for what's yours and while we all wish that wasn't the way of the world, you know it's been just that since the dawn o' time. Foster, Jordan and I choose the hard route everyday. And we couldn't be more proud of it! It just means we're leading the pack, working for the greater good.
Turns out the folk in Montana did the right thing, but not without human casualties. And who know how many of their alien soldiers are being popped into fresh husks right now thanks to Hope's help?
Probably more than the town's citizens would care to admit.
Foster DID turn the town around. And with help from their leader (a misguided but ultimately good-guy named Horace Burke) we were able to blow up a pretty important part of Mabus' army his Vanguard the troops that would storm our castle at the top of the Second Wave. Foster blew 'em sky-high, thousands of Gua died before they even got a chance to fight on our turf.
But this is a war. And THEY started it.
Humanity can be as ugly to itself as it is to the predators that seek to devour it. Don't have to be paranoid to know that. But we ain't gonna take any pity on the people who would mess with this war.
Everyone gets a second chance, it's something Foster taught me well. So if there are any more traitors out there it's time to wake up and smell the invasion. Your actions will have consequences.
But don't worry about having to live with 'em. We'll all be gone if you keep it up.
