TWICE BLESS'D By Eddie Nambulous
BELIEVE IN CADE FOSTER.
Easy enough request for most of us - for a long time all of us have. But this time it was just a little bit different. This time the Gua army was about to start marching across the globe in all its 10 million-alien might.
Thought we had Mabus by the balls, were ready to smash his invasion army in one single blow, until he told us the opposite. The sunofabitch told Cade he was being duped all along, that Foster had fulfilled every mission objective Mabus expected of him. Cade had obtained information on the hammer, exposed the Raven Nation and delivered me, Joshua and Jordan right into his grasp.
Mabus told Cade we didn't know a thing. Cade he was GUA! Osmosist Operative One-One-Seven, infiltration expert. The alien's best -- until he started believing his cover. Mabus told Cade to tear the lies away and think about his "life" as a human. They'd given him an identity, a seamless past. Told him to gather followers, become a false messiah, CHOSEN for Operation: Twice Bless'd. Foster had played the part to perfection but Mabus always knew that somewhere inside that human husk Cade knew who he really was - he said Foster BELIEVED in Gua.
Cade's entire journey through the earth had been to accomplish this one purpose - to wield the full power of the hammer and initiate the download. Cade held the army of the Gua in his hands - the orb that contained ten million consciousnesses.
And then he destroyed it! Mabus disintegrated in the most gorgeous dissolve any of us had ever seen!
The Gua husk-army powered down. The Second Wave ain't coming today or any other day! Cade and Jordan couldn't be sure but I was in the mood to celebrate. This was what we'd always hoped for - odds of the Gua coming were slim to none with Mabus gone and the loss of ten-million of their souls.
To get to the leader Foster had to shoot me and Joshua and Jordan. But he healed us all with the hammer - he did it by BELIEVING he could. It was real.
But there was one last thing Cade had to get done. Something he thought he couldn't do, but knew he had to when he got the chance. He went into his past - he said goodbye to Hannah. He couldn't save her, couldn't risk this future, the stopping of the invasion even to save the loved ones and innocents we'd lost in the past.
But he could go back and put it to rest. Cade finally can have some peace. He'd righted the wrongs to his loved ones.
It was his final sacrifice for all of you who are reading this. His final act to keep us safe.
Every journey has an end. We'll always be able to look back at the struggles we faced, the victories and losses, the joys and the sorrows and we'll have comfort knowing the road was made smooth by friends who came together in the darkest hour.
And maybe the journey isn't ever really over, not while we carry in our hearts the memories of those innocents who touched us and helped us get here - to victory.
A woman named Hannah rescued Cade in his past; he loved her with all his heart. But her death brought Cade to me and Jordan and even Joshua - and I'd like to think we all saved each other in some ways. From my own darkness that was living in seclusion, to Jordan mourning her family and losing herself to that pain to Joshua forever serving a corrupt leader he knew would bring his people to shame and destruction. It's a good feeling knowing we're all gonna be okay.
Cade was never really sure what being "Twice Bless'd" meant before, we always had theories but no real answers. He knows now.
It's that second chance.
The one we've ALL been given. You and me - thanks to Cade Foster, we're all chosen, all given our lives back.
We're all "Twice Bless'd."
Congratulations.
The First Wave is over. And that's something to BELIEVE.
