Carl Axelrod is an eccentric but enthusiastic graduate student in physics and one of the suspects listed in the police file of J.T. Neumeyer's impending murder. He idolizes Prof. Neumeyer but he worships the laws of physics, which seem to demand that J.T. meet a grisly fate in five days.
An accomplished theater actor, Hamish Linklater made his feature-film debut in Groove, an official selection of the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
Linklater was the lead actor in the independent feature Final Draft and he played the journalist Richard Roth in HBO's Live from Baghdad opposite Helena Bonham Carter and Michael Keaton. On television, Hamish has a recurring role on the series American Dreams, and he was a series regular on the ABC/Disney series Gideon's Crossing.
His stage credits include starring in Recent Tragic Events, opposite Heather Graham, and appearing as Laertes in an off-Broadway production of Hamlet, opposite Liev Schrieber in the title role. Linklater also participated in Shakespeare's Birthday Celebration with Ian McKellan on National Public Radio.
