Calgary, Alberta native Kari Matchett, one of Canada's most prominent actors, first rose to prominence with the hit series Power Play, in which she starred as a hockey team's president.
On television, Matchett won the Gemini Award (the Canadian Emmy-equivalent) for a guest appearance on the popular Global TV series Blue Murder. She later returned to that series in the starring role of Elaine Bender. Previously, she worked opposite 5ive Days to Midnight co-star Timothy Hutton on the acclaimed A&E series Nero Wolfe, in which she rose to the challenge of playing a different character in almost every episode. The versatile Matchett also played two different recurring roles (Siobhan Beckett and Rho'ha) on Earth: Final Conflict.
On the big screen, Matchett starred in Cube 2: Hypercube and Apartment Hunting, as well as opposite Jeremy Northam in Cypher and Chevy Chase in The Great Goose Caper. Matchett also was featured in Luis Mandoki's Angel Eyes, starring Jennifer Lopez.
An accomplished theater actor, Matchett studied at Canada's National
Theatre School, where she spent three years, and at the Moscow Theatre
School. She has appeared onstage in Stratford Festival productions of The
Country Wife and The Merry Wives of Windsor in Stratford,
Toronto.
