Chris Bauer portrays Det. Lou Destefano, Joe Miller's long-time partner on the force and loyal friend in life.
A native of Los Angeles, Bauer honed his skills on the stage in Chicago performing with such noted ensembles as the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and the famed Goodman Theatre.
Bauer went on to study at the Yale School of Drama and then moved to New York, where he became a member of the Atlantic Theatre Company, which was founded by David Mamet.
He returned to the Chicago stage and gained notice for his performance in the Steppenwolf's production of A Clockwork Orange, which Bauer credits as a watershed moment in his career. He went on to appear in the Atlantic's productions of Mojo, Hothouse and The Night Heron.
Bauer made his Broadway debut as Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire, opposite Natasha Richardson. He most recently appeared in John Patrick Shanley's Defiance at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
His first feature-film role, in Snow White, was opposite Sigourney Weaver. His other film credits include Face/Off, Devil's Advocate, Flawless, 8mm, Animal Factory, Broken Flowers and a leading role in this year's The Notorious Bettie Page. He can currently be seen in Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers.
He also co-starred in HBO's 61* as well as Showtime's Our Fathers. He was a regular on John Wells' Third Watch, as well as on ESPN's Tilt and most recently Smith. He also starred in the second season of HBO's acclaimed drama The Wire.
