A meteor crashes in Hui Tan province. From its ore, handmade bullets are molded and find their way into battle. Four soldiers of the opposing army fall, all from identical wounds in the head. Such injuries usually prove fatal but not this time. The men recover, and investigator Adam Ballard learns that each victim has gained genius IQ apparently the result of brain transplant.
After the men escape, Ballard traces one, Lieutenant Minns, to Wall Street. Ballard sees him amassing fortunes in money and disbursing it to all corners of the world. Trailing the lines of communication taken by the money, Ballard discovers the geniuses hard at work as if possessed on a scientific project dealing primarily with Earth's children.
NOTE: The much-honored Robert Duvall would win an Oscar for his starring role in Tender Mercies with additional nominations for Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, The Great Santini, The Apostle and A Civil Action. Kinchloe on the Robert Crane sitcom Hogan's Heroes and go on to become a major TV-series director, also appeared in the first-season Outer Limits episode "The Human Factor."
