THE PROBE Directed by Felix Feist Written by Seeleg Lester Pilot "Cobe" Coberly heads the crew of a transoceanic cargo plane in-flight to Tokyo with only passenger, Amanda Frank. A hurricane forces the plane to ditch directly within the "eye" of the storm. The people scramble into a life raft — and run "aground" on a strange, solid surface in the mid-Pacific Ocean. Dexter, the navigator, sets out to investigate this odd place. His distant screams are heard. Then an amorphous glob advances, threatening the remaining survivors. Further exploration reveals that they are all captives within a laboratory equipped with instruments and mechanization far in advance of anything known on Earth. NOTE: Janos Prohaska, who plays the alien microbe (a.k.a. Mikie), was a veteran "monster actor" who appeared in several episodes of the classic Star Trek TV series: as the Mugato in "A Private Little War." as Yarnek in "The Savage Curtain" and the Horta in "The Devil in the Dark." He also made uncredited appearances in the classic Outer Limits episodes "The Sixth Finger" (as Darwin the Monkey) and "The Architects of Fear" (as the Thetan).
