Andrew Fox grew up in North Miami Beach as a passionate science fiction and horror fan, publishing an Anne McCaffrey-centered fanzine and attending his first WorldCon, Boscon 2, as a teenager. Since 1982, he has primarily resided in New Orleans and currently works as state manager for the Louisiana Commodity Supplemental Food Program. In 1996, he joined the monthly writing workshop founded by award-winning New Orleans-based science fiction author George Alec Effinger and has remained active with the group ever since. His first book, comic-horror novel Fat White Vampire Blues, was published by Del Rey in 2003 and was widely described as "Anne Rice meets A Confederacy of Dunces. The book was selected by the Lord Ruthven Assembly as Best Vampire Fiction of 2003. It was followed by Bride of the Fat White Vampire in 2004. Andrew is married to Dara, and they share a teenaged daughter, Natalie, and two baby sons, Levi and Asher, as well as six cats. Their home, thankfully, was NOT destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
