Siege's Loken Back With Boll

Kristanna Loken, who starred in director Uwe Boll's most recent film, BloodRayne, told SCI FI Wire that she's completed work on another Boll-directed video-game-based movie, the upcoming In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. "That's another medieval large-scale epic," Loken said in an interview while promoting the upcoming SCFI FI original miniseries Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King. "My character basically lives in the trees with her band of women and protects the forest, I would think a la Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream or a 6-foot Amazon Tinker Bell."

Loken, who is best known for her role as a killer cyborg in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, added: "I have a smaller role in In the Name of the King than I did in BloodRayne. It's got a great cast: Jason Statham, Matthew Lillard, Leelee Sobieski, Burt Reynolds, John Rhys-Davies, Ray Liotta and Claire Forlani. We really did get a great cast."

Loken said that she hopes In the Name of the King, which will open sometime in 2007, will be better received than BloodRayne, which critics largely panned and which tanked at the box office following a botched release. "I was actually very, very surprised," Loken said of the lackluster response to BloodRayne. "I know that Uwe does not have a great track record, to say the least. Hey, I'm going to be objective. It's not going to win any awards, but I thought for what it was it was a pretty decent film."

Loken had already finished In the Name of the King by the time BloodRayne opened in January. "I really think where we got cheated was in the distribution, going with a company such as Romar, [which] did not have the knowledge or the know-how to really distribute a film," she said. "That was really sad, because you put over a year of your life into a project, and you think it's going to do something. So I think we really did get cheated in that sense." —Ian Spelling
