The Ultimate UFOLOGIST WWW Page
Mulder would love this...
Review by Craig E. Engler
Navigation is through a series of simple lists that lead logically from topic to topic. For instance, clicking on the link for UFO books will bring up a menu allowing users to search by subject, title or recent releases. The main menu includes categories for pictures, books, famous cases, a who's who directory and a glossary, UFO theories, the latest information, personal sighting reports and other UFO resources on the Web. Most of the material is covered in depth, with the exception of the various UFO theories -- these are basically short summaries of the explanations put forth for extraterrestrial visits. The book listing includes ratings by the site owner for each title, and the personal sightings page is actually a series of eyewitness accounts written by other users. The general time span of information ranges from reports dating back to the early 1940s to news clips from last week's headlines. The site owner claims to update the page daily. There's no doubt about it...this page has to be at the top of Fox Mulder's bookmarks. It's a fascinating romp through ufology that will delight skeptics and believers alike. There are dozens of pictures and documented reports to satisfy the immediate craving of UFO hunters, and when they're done perusing the glamorous stuff, there's still plenty left to do.
One of the biggest highlights of this site is the personal sightings page. It's a compilation of eyewitness accounts submitted by users, and it provides great insight into the whole field of ufology -- many of these are from ordinary people who happened to witness something extraordinary and who are trying to make some sense of it. The picture gallery is also a must-visit link, with images dating back as far as 1942 (from a sighting in China). The downside to this "ultimate" page is that it's about as graphically appealing as using the latest version of Lynx. While this bare-bones approach makes for quick load times, it also makes it tough to read page after page of uninterrupted text. Although the owner made some attempt to rectify the problem with colored backgrounds and text, this solution actually makes some of the pages even harder to read. And there are also a few unexpected "under construction" pages that would have better been left out. Despite these problems, this ufology page will easily delight all users -- unlike other UFO pages, "believing" isn't a prerequisite. If you were wondering, "ufology" is pronounced "you-fall-oh-gee." Weird, huh? -- Craig E.
