The seven seas

s they are preparing their flight, Grandpa explains to Christopher about the different universes they might travel to. He tells Christopher that he can think of them as the Seven Seas:

The Sea of Is

This is the sea of the everyday world that everyone lives in.

The Sea of If

A universe of multiple possibilities existing simultaneously.

The Sea of Was

The past.

The Sea of Will Be

The future.

The Sea of Where

Space travel.

The Sea of Isn't

A universe where everything changes randomly all the time. Grandpa says it's like a dream place, and one very difficult to escape.

The Sea of What

The only sea Grandpa hasn't visited, so he doesn't know anything about it. He doesn't even think there's a way into it.
