Melissa Scott

Melissa Scott began her science fiction career with the publication of The Game Beyond in 1984, a space operatic romp that showcased her burgeoning talents. In 1986 she earned the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, at least partly due to Five-Twelths of Heaven, which marked the start of her Silence Leigh series about an aspiring space pilot. She continued the Silence stories with Silence in Solitude and The Empress of Earth, which were collected together with Five-Twelths in The Roads of Heaven.

Other works by Scott include Burning Bright, Dreamships and Trouble and Her Friends.
