The Letters to the Editor department is intended to be a forum for our readers to express their own opinions and ideas. While we appreciate the many complimentary letters we receive each day, you won't find them on this page. Instead, you will find letters that go beyond or even contradict what we have written, letters that offer a different perspective and provide a different view of science fiction. If you would like to submit a letter, please use our comments form or send a message to scifiweekly@scifi.com.

Recommends The Sparrow
ell gang, I've been reading science fiction for over a half a century and finding it better every year. Last month the genre was blessed with a new author and an outstanding novel that immediately, in my not so humble opinion, ranks with the all time best and certainly should be the science fiction novel of the year.
The Sparrow by M. D. Russell is a marvel. Russell brings three degrees in anthropology, a strong talent for writing and sense and understanding of human nature together to produce a mind wrenching, gut twisting, inspirational book.
I work part time in a book store and have been having a great time providing our customers with the "simple" and surprising plot: Some 50 years in the future we have discovered, through radion telescopes, another star system with a civilization. While the politicians are discussing funding and who's to go, the Catholic Church sends the Jesuits. Build on that! Dr. Russell sure has.

Thoughts on Star Control 3
tar Control 3 wreaks of stinkatude! SC2 was a real game, one of the best of all time! Accolade f****d up SC3 with boredom and stupidity. The plot is water thin, and the characters have no depth! SC3 is nothing more than a mere shadow of what SC2 was.
Accolade sold it (SC3) solely on the popularity and hype of SC2. I was addicted to SC2, and loved it so much that I went out and bought SC3 when it came out. I was utterly and completely disappointed. In fact, I was so disappointed that I refuse to buy another Accolade game. SC3 sucks big time!

Wants ISBNs...or else
fter reading your review of City Come-A-Walkin' by John Shirley last week, I went to my local bookseller and tried to order it. The book was not listed in any of the catalogs my bookseller had. Do you know how I might obtain a copy?
By the way, if I were dictator, anyone reviewing a book who didn't
include an ISBN number or the publisher's address would be shot!

Editor: The book was published by Eyeball Books. You can contact them directly at eyebrown@interpath.com. As to your being dictator, luckily I don't foresee that in the near future, but we will take a look at adding ISBNs to our book reviews.
