The Klingon Encyclopedia
http://klingon.wikia.com/

By Ken Newquist

It's been said that one hasn't read Shakespeare until one has read him in the original Klingon. The same can be said of the Klingon history, and now fans of the alien language can do exactly that with the Klingon Encyclopedia.
Unlike other wikis that might chronicle Klingon history—as well as Earth's own—in the language of the weak-willed Federation, the Klingon Encyclopedia attempts to do it in tlhIngan Hol itself. The encyclopedia contains entries on hov leng (Star Trek), the Klingon dialect morska, the notorious James T. Kirk and his successor, janluq pIqarD (Jean Luc Picard). Elsewhere visitors can find entries about Earth's science, history, technology and religions.

Anyone can add new entries to the wiki, but they must be written in Klingon and must be more than just a mishmash of words or dictionary entries; the creators really want the site to be a full-fledged encyclopedia. The wiki explicitly states that it's not the place to learn Klingon, but it would be far more useful if English translations were offered side by side with the original Klingon. As is, casual visitors will need to keep Google or Klingon Language Institute open in another browser window if they want any chance of understanding what's written here.
