The Time Traveler Show
http://www.timetravelershow.com

By A.M. Dellamonica

Voyaging into the history of science fiction is the mission of The Time Traveler Show, a podcast whose specialty is audio performances of classic SF stories. Showcasing the fiction of writers like Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Fritz Leiber and Mack Reynolds, this show gives modern-day listeners a chance to catch some of the great SF of decades gone by.
The Time Traveler Show site, not surprisingly, serves as a companion to its broadcasts, posting links to the sites of the authors it showcases along with audiobook reviews, the occasional convention report and interviews with writers. Visitors may listen to archived episodes of the show online, naturally, or download them to portable MP3 players; they can also check out the artwork that accompanies the stories, browse related sites that also concentrate on audiobooks, and participate in the occasional contest. In marked contrast to podcasts that mix in a bit of everything science fictional—be it film and TV news, cutting-edge science discoveries or video games—this site has a very tight focus on writers and written SF.

The Time Traveler Show has been quiet lately—its most recent episode went live this summer, and there is no indication as to when the next podcast may be forthcoming. That said, the existing archive provides more than enough listening material for interested fans. With over a year of readings and other material posted, this site promises to keep all but the most avid of audiophiles busy until the Time Traveler's next voyage into the SF genre's colorful past.
