Synopsis:
A computer-dominated culture run amok is found on Eminiar III and Vendikar, whose planetary inhabitants have settled into a neat but deadly war for the past 500 years. In this sterile combat, virtual attacks by each side are launched, marking terrain with computer-designated casualties. Citizens in tagged areas then report to disintegration chambers. When the Federation diplomat Ambassador Robert Fox, ferried by the Enterprise, is ordered to make diplomatic contact with the cloistered system, the ship and crew are soon tagged as casualties in an attack. But Kirk refuses to comply with the rules of this sterile war, and strives to upset 500 years of polite, deadly tradition.
Guest Cast:
Gene Lyons as Ambassador Robert Fox
