Title: Who Mourns for Adonais
Production: 33
Original Airdate: September 22, 1967
Stardate: 3468.1
Synopsis: The Enterprise is stopped dead in space by a giant energy field, magnetically configured to resemble a human hand. The source of the power turns out to be an entity claiming to be Apollo, the ancient Terran Greek god, and he backs up his words with seeming command of matter and energy about him. Mixing paternal compassion with vengeance, he seduces Lieutenant Carolyn Palamas to be his mortal bride even as Kirk steels himself for battle against the seemingly omnipotent being. It is Apollo's demand that humanity once again shrink to worshipful submission and the crew must find a way to thwart him or forever be his thralls. The revelation of a vulnerable power generator within his temple complex on Pollux IV would seem to show Apollo as a fake -- or is he?
