Synopsis: Renowned Federation historian John Gill is overdue from his observation of Ekos and its neighbor Zeon, planets on the eve of nuclear power and spaceflight. Sent to check him out, the Enterprisecrew is aghast to see a complete recreation of Nazi German symbols, aggression and hatred amid the Ekosians, all aimed at the Zeons as their enemy. Through masquerade, Kirk's team survives capture by the Ekosians and their rebel Zeon underground while trying to retrieve Gill and undo the damage -- or find out who's really responsible.
