Title: Spock's Brain
Production: 61
Original Airdate: September 20, 1968
Stardate: 5431.4
Synopsis:
In a bizarre burglary, the crew awakens after a barely-recalled commando assault on the bridge
to find that an all-female team has surgically removed Spock's brain. McCoy is able to automate
the Vulcan's body to keep it alive a few hours, so Kirk leads the rescue to a system where no
planet should have the technology the Eymorg possessed. Surprisingly, the women are seen to be
underground dwellers of low intelligence, living apart from their males on the surface. Dependent
on a short bursts of temporary knowledge gleaned as needed from their "Controller" computer, they
have shanghaied Spcok's brain for their Controller on its orders. But even if they could retreive
the organ from the resistant Eymorg, Kirk and McCoy face the same sobering fact: they too have no
way of knowing the advanced techniques required to restore it.
