Synopsis: Amid the shocking news that McCoy is fatally ill, the Enterprisemust race to deflect an asteroid bound for a collision course with Federation member Daran V. But the asteroid turns out to be inhabited inside, disguised as a normal planet to its lesser-developed inhabitants by its builders who launched it to a new homeworld. McCoy falls in love with the Yonadan priestess and decides to spend the rest of his few days with her, submitting to the asteroid's Oracle master computer which is worshipped by the natives. But when Kirk and Spock's attempts to realign the asteroid run afoul of the Oracle, McCoy finds himself torn between his new love and her people, and helping his mates -- and the millions of helpless Daranites.
