Synopsis: Kirk is held hostage aboard his own ship thanks to the Scalosians, a race who exist at a rate so accelerated they appear invisible, marked only by an audible whine. Deela, their leader, has designs on Kirk and his crew to capture their starship and repopulate her people after its males became sterile, thanks to an eco-disaster. Their invasion seems foolproof -- a takeover invisible until it succeeds -- and Kirk is thwarted by the fact that "accelerated" humans find even the slightest physical injury fatal. But when Deela's mate proves jealous of her designs on the captain, Kirk realizes he still might have a chance -- but somehow contacting Spock is the key.
