Title: Whom Gods Destroy
Production: 71
Original Airdate: January 3, 1969
Stardate: 5718.3
Synopsis:
A psychochemical cure has been discovered that should fully reverse the
mental illness of one of Starfleet's greatest warriors, Captain Garth,
now at the Elba II penal colony for the insane. Arriving with the
medicine, Kirk and Spock discover that Garth and his inmates have
seized the facility and demand the response code to be beamed up. The
megalomaniac staged his takeover using the trick of cellular
metamorphosis taught him by the Antosians during his recuperation from
severe injuries. Now he has proclaimed himself Lord of the Universe,
declared fellow inmate Marta his consort, and taken the officers and
Governor Cory hostage on threat of death. While Kirk knows that he and
Spock are Garth's only key to escape, he hadn't counted on the man's
uncanny shape-shifting ability as a weapon.
Guest Cast:
Steve Ihnat as Garth
Yvonne Craig as Marta

Who is the actual author of the poetry recited by Marta?
|
|

Spock: (referring to Marta's seductive dance routine.) Well, I find it mildly interesting and
somewhat nostalgic - if I understand the use of that word. It is somewhat reminiscent of the dances
vulcan children do in nursery school. Of course the children are not so..."coordinated."
