COLE (Adrian Paul)
His given name has no English translation, but on Earth he goes by "Cole." He's from the planet Cirron 17, in the Migar solar system, some 100 light-years from Earth.
Being from another planet has advantages for Cole. Despite having a human body, he possesses extraordinary abilities far beyond those of humans. Among his more extraordinary capabilities, he can freeze time, move with hyper-speed and alter his physical form (though it requires great effort for him to do so). He also can use his Cirronnian energy-essence to activate the fist-sized "Collector" he built to recapture the alien fugitives who have fled to Earth.
But being a stranger in a strange land also has drawbacks for Cole. Not only must he face myriad physical challenges, he must also deal with the fact that he is living on a planet about which he knows virtually nothing. Every small facet of life that humans take for granted is something that Cole must process and attempt to understand, then act upon. Each and every experience is new for him, and this will test his intelligence, his endurance and, occasionally, his patience.
MEL PORTER (Amy Price-Francis)
Mel's looks are killer. She can't help it. It's part of who she is, and she's had to deal with it all her life. Sometimes she rails against it, sometimes she's proud of it. Her looks have gotten her into trouble, gotten her out of trouble, and gotten her into relationships with guys who she shouldn't have been in relationships with. But Mel has turned a corner in her life. She has stopped trying to save men. Now she just wants to save herself. She doesn't want or need any more complications; her life until now has been nothing but a series of them.
Mel spends the majority of her time at The Watchfire, a downtown Chicago bar she inherited from her grandmother. It's an establishment that's been around for more than 100 years. Because of its proximity to the criminal courts building, it used to be frequented predominantly by lawyers, law clerks, cops and even a few judges. In the years since Mel inherited the place, she has tried to convert it into a hipper, livelier spot that will attract a younger, sexier crowd but sometimes it seems that it will always be just a "cop bar."
JESS BROWN (Leanne Wilson)
When Mel inherited The Watchfire bar, she didn't realize that it came complete with a young and sexually voracious English bartender by the name of Jess. She can be found nightly, slinging drinks, serving up "belly shots" and flaunting a pair of Frankie B python hip-huggers.
Jess comes to Chicago by way of London's West End, and she has brought with her a rich love of life, an "I'll try anything once" attitude and a predatory eye for unsuspecting males.
DET. VICTOR BRUNO (Dean McDermott)
Vic is in his early thirties, single and a third-generation Chicago cop. He used to date Mel and won her over with his grandmother's secret deep-dish pizza recipe. Unfortunately, his obsessive dedication to the job drove them apart. Vic is Mel's go-to guy, always willing to help out without asking a lot of questions.
But there's one question he can't help but ask her whenever they see each other: What is the nature of her relationship with Cole? Although Mel insists that Cole is just a boarder, Vic's suspicious nature compels him to probe further into the mysterious activities of this dark stranger who has walked into Mel's life, seemingly from nowhere.
A relentless and meticulous investigator, Vic already is piecing together his own conspiracy theory about a trainload of law-abiding citizens who suddenly all became missing persons or master criminals. He doesn't suspect for a minute that uncovering the truth about that fateful train ride will change his life and, possibly, the fate of all humanity.
NESTOV (Richard Yearwood)
Nestov is a young Enixian con man with a penchant for Earthly delights, especially women of all shapes and sizes. Nestov inhabits the body of a small-time crook named Jack Hobbs. Hobbs was a penniless loser with bad hair and worse taste in clothes. That's unfortunate, and somewhat disgusting, for Nestov, who relishes the good things in life. Now Nestov fills his days by carrying out con jobs on his adopted planet, bilking helpless Earthlings out of anything and everything he can.
After Nestov comes to Cole for help and saves the Tracker's life, the two form a strange and occasionally amusing alliance. Cole decides to spare Nestov, leaving his lifeforce intact for as long as Nestov agrees to be Cole's eyes and ears on the street to help him track down the other alien fugitives.
DR. ZIN (Geraint Wyn Davies)
Dr. Zin is the ultimate villain: intelligent, manipulative, clever and ruthless. He is Cole's nemesis and the person responsible for creating the wormhole that unleashed 218 alien fugitives on the passengers of Chicago-bound Train 805. The fugitives represent every kind of deviant behavior known to the Migar solar system. Zin acts as their "Godfather" and molds them into an organized machine that infiltrates every strata of human society. Only a select few of the fugitives know of Zin's master plan on Earth. The rest act as foot soldiers, carrying out his orders.
Zin is from the planet Varda, which makes him a very dangerous foe. Vardians are known for their brilliance and their cold-heartedness. The upper caste of their race, of which Zin is a member, has evolved to a level at which they have developed many arcane, "hidden" skills, such as telekinesis.
Zin was once a scientist. He specialized in deep-space exploration. His primary interest, though, was not in exploration but in the exploitation of the resources and the enslavement of the populations of the new worlds he conquered. The Migar Alliance, appalled by his goals, imprisoned him. Zin has sworn revenge and vowed to bring them all to their knees.
