As usual, I let packing my bags go to the last minute because I hate packing my bags; I keep trying to pack something to cover every possible contingency, and for this trip that's saying something.
An archaeological dig in the high New Mexico desert, looking for pieces of a crashed flying saucer. Who would have thought we could pull it off? But here we go — after 13 years of talk and disappointment, it was actually happening. I finish packing my bags at 1:30 a.m. Time to get some sleep.
