I was around 7 or 8 years old. My family and I lived next to this big forest, a few miles away from an Air Force base. This forest was enormous, and I only ever dared to go in maybe 50 feet or so. One day I thought I would go in a little deeper than usual. After walking for maybe 10 minutes, the brush overhead was so thick that it was almost like night. Scared and lost, I started running, hoping to reach the other side as quickly as possible. Then I saw light ahead. As I parted the branches and stepped into the light, I was amazed to find I wasn't out of the forest, but rather in a circular clearing. It was close to 20 feet in diameter, perfectly round, and all the grass and trees that once stood there were dead and gone. At the time it seemed like nothing [important], but when I look back on it, it was as if a UFO had landed there. I also remember feeling disoriented as I stepped closer. I soon left, never to return. When I think about it now, I know it wasn't just my imagination. For some strange reason, after that day, a lot of the snakes and animals I've encountered have seemed unusually agitated by my presence. Maybe it's just my imagination ... but maybe it's not.
