Tim Matheson got his start as an actor by lending his voice to a number of Hanna-Barbera animated series, most notably Jonny Quest.
However, it was Matheson's role as Otter in the classic college comedy Animal House that earned him widespread notice. In the years that followed, Matheson appeared in such films as The Story of Us; She's All That; A Very Brady Sequel; Black Sheep; Rescuers: Stories of Courage — Two Families; Divorce American Style; Yours, Mine & Ours; 1941; Dreamer; A Little Sex; To Be or Not to Be; Up the Creek; Van Wilder: Party Liaison; Fletch; and Drop Dead Fred.
Matheson's credits are not limited to the big screen. On television, he has had roles in such series as Window on Main Street, The Twilight Zone, Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, and The Mickey Rooney Show. He also has guest-starred on The Virginian, The Quest, The Bold Ones, Night Gallery, Bonanza, and Just in Time, which he also executive produced.
He also co-starred as Vice President John Hoynes on the popular presidential drama The West Wing, and has worked on a number of miniseries, including Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, Judas and Jesus, Forever Love, Christmas in My Home Town and An Unfinished Affair.
Matheson is a founding member of the legendary improvisational troupe The Groundlings, and he produced the feature film Blind Fury. In recent years he has directed numerous TV movies, including In the Company of Spies for Showtime, and Buried Alive 2 for USA Networks.
