PILOT FBI HQ, Washington, D.C. — We partner FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, M.D., with Special Agent Fox Mulder, in order to assess his activities and usefulness to us. The once highly promising Mulder was relegated to the basement office of "X-File" cases involving citizen reports of UFOs and "paranormal" phenomena. In their first case together, the agents investigate a series of Oregon high-school students' abductions, which Mulder believes are extraterrestrial in nature. DEEP THROAT Ellens AFB, Idaho — After being approached by our clandestine operative [NAME WITHHELD], whom Mulder and Scully designate "Deep Throat" in homage to the unnamed Watergate source of Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein, the agents investigate Ellens Air Force Base, where test pilots are experiencing heretofore unseen traumas and psychoses. SQUEEZE Baltimore — The agents encounter a genetic mutant, Eugene Tooms, who awakens from hibernation every 30 years to feed on five fresh human livers, and whose snake-like physiology allows him to squeeze through small spaces. CONDUIT Lake Okobogee National Park, Iowa — Mulder is personally affected by the abduction of a young girl, whom he speculates might have been abducted by aliens — a scenario similar to that which he believes occurred to his younger sister, Samantha, who went missing Nov. 27, 1973, at age 8. THE JERSEY DEVIL Atlantic City, N.J. — The agents track a beast of local legend that stalks human beings. Evolutionary evidence suggests the beast may actually be human. SHADOWS Philadelphia — Office-worker Lauren Kyte appears to be paranormally protected from violence, with an unknown entity murdering her antagonists. Mulder and Scully focus their suspicions on Kyte's late former boss, who might have faked his death. GHOST IN THE MACHINE Crystal City, Va. — The agents investigate computer firm Central Operating System, which had been a target of our interest since creating an A.I. system that appears to have developed unplanned homicidal sentience. ICE Icy Cape, Alaska — Trapped with scientists and a bush pilot in the remote Arctic Ice Core Project, Mulder and Scully are turned against each other when a possibly extraterrestrial parasite infects the group. SPACE Pasadena, Calif. — Repeated sabotage of the space program leads Mulder and Scully to a former astronaut who might be under the influence of an entity or intelligence he encountered in space. FALLEN ANGEL Townsend, Wis. — Mulder comes close to obtaining hard evidence of extraterrestrial presence on Earth at a UFO crash site our reclamations team was sanitizing. We encountered an unforeseen situation in the unexpected abduction of one Max Fenig. EVE Greenwich, Conn. — In the aftermath of our "Litchfield" experiments, two identical young girls living 3,000 miles apart are involved in two different, extremely similar murders. FIRE Washington, D.C. — A pyrokinetic political assassin targets a visiting British dignitary. Of particular interest is Mulder's interaction with his former Oxford sweetheart, Phoebe Green, now a Scotland Yard investigator on the case. BEYOND THE SEA Raleigh, N.C. — Following the death of Scully's father, Capt. William Scully, USN, Scully encounters a death-row inmate who claims he can "cross over" and speak to the dead. GENDERBENDER Germantown, Md. — A killer who seems to be able to change genders at will leads Mulder and Scully to a closed religious sect whose members might be an off-shoot species of the shapeshifters the agents will encounter the following year; analysis incomplete. LAZARUS Bethesda, Md. — An ex-boyfriend of Scully's nearly dies during the capture of a criminal fugitive. Though the prisoner expires, Scully believes she sees changes in her former lover that might indicate the fugitive's consciousness remains alive in a new, hijacked body. YOUNG AT HEART Washington, D.C. — A criminal who, on record, died in prison years ago begins leaving taunting notes for Mulder at new crime scenes. E.B.E. Various Locations — We placed Mulder and Scully on the cross-country trail of what they have been led to believe is a live Extraterrestial Biological Entity. MIRACLE MAN Kenwood County, Tenn. — A faith healer is accused of murder. SHAPES Browning, Mont. — Inexplicable slaughters of steer and the murder of a Native American near a reservation bring Mulder and Scully in contact with a killer who appears to be both man and beast. DARKNESS FALLS Olympic National Forest, Wash. — The agents investigate deaths deep in an area where logging might have awakened ancient insects that thrive in darkness. TOOMS Baltimore — Eugene Tooms, the genetic mutant whom Mulder and Scully captured months earlier, is released from psychiatric prison despite Mulder's warnings. BORN AGAIN Buffalo, N.Y. — Mulder suspects that a young girl who seems to be involved in several murders is possessed by the energy of a dead police officer seeking revenge. ROLAND Colson, Wash. — Several scientists associated with an experimental engine are murdered, though the only suspect is a mentally challenged janitor.
