LITTLE GREEN MEN
Written by GLEN MORGAN & JAMES WONG
Directed by DAVID NUTTER
Making the first of three appearances as Senator Richard Matheson (named for the famous SF author and screenwriter) is Raymond J. Barry, a two-time Obie Award-winning theater actor and a member of Willem Defoe's celebrated Wooster Group ensemble. His films include Dead Man Walking, Born on the Fourth of July, Training Day and the pre-X-Files Gillian Anderson film The Turning. Playing his aide is Fulvio Cecere, who went on to play Richard Sandoval on Dark Angel.

SLEEPLESS
Written by HOWARD GORDON
Directed by ROB BOWMAN
Nicholas Lea makes his first appearance as "Alex Krycek" almost certainly a pseudonym since, as a Syndicate plant and assassin, it's unlikely he'd have given the FBI his real name. Also making his first appearance is Steven Williams as "X" who is not actually referred to as that onscreen; this is an inference drawn from the episode "One Breath," in which Mulder tapes an "X" on his apartment window as a contact signal.
Genre star Tony Todd played the title role in the three Candyman movies, and his extensive SF credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation (as Worf's brother, Kurn), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (as Kurn and as an older Jake Sisko, son of Capt. Benjamin Sisko), Star Trek: Voyager, Smallville, Angel, Andromeda and Xena: Warrior Princess as well as such films as The Crow, Wishmaster and Final Destination.

Acclaimed actor Steve Railsback made his biggest splashes as Charles Manson in the 1976 telefilm hit Helter Skelter and as the title character of The Stunt Man (1980). "He's the person I wanted, the only person I ever thought of for the role," remarked Chris Carter, who made his directorial debut with this episode. "He really became the part. I think also that the levels of your actors rise to that." Railsback co-starred as the antagonistic Col. James Vise in the SF series The Visitor. Earning an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama was Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder, born in Georgetown, British Guyana, and educated at convent school in Sussex, England. She currently co-stars as Detective Claudette Wyms on The Shield. Among her many regular and recurring roles are Dr. Angela Hicks on ER (where she received an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy nomination) and Cheryl Andrews on Chris Carter's Millennium.

Perry Reeves was, at the time, the actress-girlfriend of David Duchovny; they later broke up, after a couple of years. "The bad part" about acting with your significant author, Duchovny later said, "is that in acting you're more honest and more vulnerable and more in-the-moment than you are in life. And the people that you live with in your life are used to seeing you defensive and uptight, as you normally are." Reeves' genre credits include Child's Play 3 and the telefilm Escape to Witch Mountain. Justina Vail went on to play sexy scientist Dr. Olga Vukavitch on the time-travel series Seven Days.

Teryl Rothery plays the recurring role of Dr. Janet Fraiser on Stargate SG-1. Eric Christmas is familiar as Sam Malone's parish priest, Father Barry, in a recurring role on Cheers and as the more apoplectic priest in the cult-hit Harold and Maude. Frances Bay, who played the eerie Mrs. Tremond on Twin Peaks, has been immortalized as "the marble rye-bread lady" on episodes of Seinfeld. Sacramento native Sab Shimono, who came to prominence as traditionalist Mr. Saito in the film and the TV series Gung Ho, voices the Emperor in episodes of the animated hit Samurai Jack.

Terry O'Quinn played the titular fiend of The Stepfather and Stepfather 2. The prolific performer's many roles include turns in three Chris Carter projects: Peter Watts in the series Millennium, Omar Santiago in Harsh Realm and FBI Special Agent Darius Michaud in the film The X-Files. The much-honored Morgan Woodward, who has made dozens of movies and more than 130 episodic-TV appearances dating back to at least 1956, is best known to SF fans for two outstanding performances on the original Star Trek: as a tragically maddened penal-colony second-in-command in "Dagger of the Mind" and as the immortality-hungry captain of the Starship Exeter in "The Omega Glory." His last role to date was in the "Force Majeure" episode of Millennium.

IRRESISTIBLE
Written by CHRIS CARTER
Directed by DAVID NUTTER
Bruce Weitz won a 1984 Emmy Award for playing Detective Mick Belker on Hill Street Blues. He also has appeared in the series casts of Anything But Love and Byrds of Paradise. The chilling Nick Chinlund, who reprised his role as Donnie Pfaster in the seventh-season episode "Orison," was a lucky last-minute casting find in one of his first roles. He'd made his TV debut in an episode of the cable anthology series Red Shoe Diaries, on which David Duchovny starred as the linking element, and has since become a familiar face in movies and on such series as Third Watch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

COLONY
Story by DAVID DUCHOVNY & CHRIS CARTER
Teleplay by CHRIS CARTER
Directed by NICK MARCK
Playing William Mulder (whose first name would not be given till a later episode) is Peter Donat, the nephew of the late, Oscar-winning actor Robert Donat (Goodbye, Mr. Chips). The younger Donat's many TV and film roles include the evil Dr. Mordecai Sahmbi in the syndicated series Time Trax. Rebecca Toolan, debuting as Mulder's mother, Teena (whose first name would not be given until several seasons later), is a Canadian actress who broke into film playing the 911 operator in the rape drama The Accused. Toolan has since appeared in such films as Knight Moves and Little Women and in such telefilms as USA Network's They Nest. Vancouver native Megan Leitch, making the first of her five appearances as the Samantha Mulder clone, has guested in episodes of The Sentinel, The Outer Limits and Stargate SG-1. Her credits include the voice of the superhero Boom Boom in the animated series X-Men: Evolution.
The imposing Brian Thompson, appearing for the first time as the shapeshifting alien "Bounty Hunter," made his screen debut playing the punk who gets his heart ripped out in The Terminator. Born in Ellensburg, Wash., he has an MFA in Acting from the University of California, Irvine, and has appeared in more than 40 movies and nearly as many episodic-TV guest roles. His genre credits include playing Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Brok in Dragonheart, a Klingon in Star Trek Generations, Hercules in the miniseries Jason and the Argonauts, Captain Tower in the SCI FI Pictures telefilm Epoch, Eddie Fiori in the vampire series Kindred: The Embraced, Nicholas Remy in the werewolf series Werewolf, and a pair of two-episode roles as The Judge on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Captain Curry on Seven Days. His recent work includes the film Freddy vs. Jason.

John Savage is best known for his powerful work in The Deer Hunter. He also has crafted indelible performances in such films as The Onion Field, Hair, Salvador, Inside Moves and Do the Right Thing. Genre fans know him as Col. Donald Michael Lydecker in the series Dark Angel and as Captain Rudy Ransom in the two-part Star Trek: Voyager season-cliffhanger "Equinox." He put his career partly on hold from 1988-94 to live in South Africa, working with Nelson Mandela against Apartheid.

Jim Rose and The Enigma came from the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow, a popular Seattle-based performance-art troupe founded in 1991. The Enigma was formerly known as Slug the Sword Swallower. Michael (a.k.a. Michael J.) Anderson became famous as "The Man from Another Place" on Twin Peaks. Character actor and award-winning cookbook author Vincent Schiavelli is a familiar face from nearly 100 films, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Amadeus, Ghost, Batman Returns, Lord of Illusions, Tomorrow Never Dies and the Andy Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon playing a network executive rather than his recurring Taxi role as the Rev. Gorky. He has played Uncle Enyos on two episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The twice-married Schiavelli made TV history playing the first "out" gay character in a prime-time series cast, Peter Panama in the 1972-73 series The Corner Bar.

THE CALUSARI
Written by SARA B. CHARNO
Directed by MICHAEL VEJAR
Born in May 1925 in Paris, France, veteran actress Lilyan Chauvin whose genre credits include Silent Night, Deadly Night, Predator 2, Universal Soldier and Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings continues to perform today in such series as Alias, such films as the upcoming Paradise and such videogames as Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. She also has guest-starred on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and in the pilot of The Pretender. No baby-boomer could ever forget Kay E. Kuter as Green Acres' Newt Kiley though the classically trained Shakespearean actor wishes they would! His TV and film credits stretch from 1954 to now, from Sabrina to Sabrina the Teenage Witch; many have seen him as the TV-commercial grandfather who awakens from a coma just long enough to tell his grandchildren about the Web site 800.com.
